Join us on this week’s Black Doctors Talk Podcast which features our guest, Dr. Wendell Scanterbury. Dr. Scanterbury speaks to us on the topic of addressing life difficulties through therapy and counseling. He is the owner of XarisCounseling LLC where he supports individuals, couples, and families pursuing life transformation and confronting relationship challenges. He has also spent over 13 years working with and caring for people living with cancer and providing grief counseling.
During the podcast, Dr. Scanterbury discusses his journey from the island of Trinidad and Tobago to becoming the Director of Pastoral Care at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Philadelphia to now running his own private practice with XarisCounseling LLC. Dr. Scanterbury has led several workshops that address the realities of life, caregiving, parenting, and community support in the context of cancer. He also supports couples through retreats, workshops, and psychotherapy services.
Dr. Scanterbury holds a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Eastern University, an M.Div from Westminster Theological Seminary, and a B.S. from Nyack College. He is a Pre-Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), a member of the Christian Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS), and the Black Doctoral Network (BDN).
