His graphic novel, Between the Pipes, offers a powerful narrative about acceptance and support, featuring an Indigenous teen navigating his sexuality amidst homophobia.Beyond his literary work, Albert has been instrumental in advocacy and cultural preservation, co-founding 2-Spirited People of Manitoba and directing the Manitoba Aboriginal AIDS Task Force. He's also contributed to the national plan addressing violence against Indigenous women and Two-Spirit people. Albert's artistic talents have led him to design the 2SLGBTQI+ National Monument in Ottawa, and he now consults on cultural reclamation.On November 1st, the Winnipeg Jets will honor Albert at their annual Pride Game, a significant event that celebrates inclusivity and authenticity. This recognition aims to show Two-Spirit youth and community members that they have allies in unexpected places, including professional sports. Albert's work, both on and off the ice, is paving the way for a future where acceptance is real and community can be found in various aspects of life.
