On today's 'BradCast':  The heat is on. A record extreme heat wave is shattering records in the U.S. West, while pressure builds on two Senate Democrats to take the actions needed to save democracy from autocracy pushed by the Republican Party.  Senate Democrats held a test vote Tuesday, moving to begin debate on the critical election and campaign reform bill known as the For the People Act -- literally, a vote to hold a debate on whether to hold a debate. Democrats won that vote with their majority, but because of the undemocratic U.S. Senate rules requiring a 60-vote supermajority, the Republican minority easily blocked it. No debate will be held on voting and election reforms until the Jim Crow-era filibuster rule is reformed in some way, but both Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) oppose doing so, blocking long-overdue safeguards to American democracy. Meteorologist Guy 'Climate Guy' Walton explains the spike in daily records and extreme weather amid the intensifying mega-drought and wildfires in the West. Walton covers the impacts of human-caused climate change on reservoirs growing perilously dry, the nearly year-round wildfire season, how the corporate media is doing in their coverage of climate change, the quickening pace of broken heat records as our climate change emergency worsens, and much more.  He also discusses his wickedly subversive illustrated children's book series, 'World of Thermo' and the soon-to-be published 'World of Thermo: Carbonated.'  Plus Desi Doyen has our latest 'Green News Report.'
