ByHeart, a popular organic baby formula brand, has issued a nationwide recall of all its products due to a link to an outbreak of infant botulism. At least fifteen infants across twelve states have fallen ill since August, with all cases involving ByHeart formula. The company collaborated with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to recall the product, despite no unopened ByHeart product testing positive for contamination. California health officials confirmed the presence of the specific bacteria causing the toxin in an open can of ByHeart formula fed to a sick infant. ByHeart is now testing every batch with an independent lab and providing full access to their facilities for regulators.
