An independent economist wants New Zealand to follow Australia's lead in cutting the level at which small to medium size businesses are being taxed.
Cameron Bagrie of Bagrie Economics says that sector's the nuts and bolts of the New Zealand economy and needs to be fired up.
He told Mike Hosking at the moment they're getting whacked with a lot of costs and are nervous about hiring.
"I would like to see some kind of tax cut or tax break for small to medium enterprises below a certain profit level, below a certain turnover level, and try to nudge that down to sort of 25 cents in a dollar."
