Everyone knows about the destruction hurricanes cause, but does the rebuilding after one stimulate economic growth? Would enough hurricanes in a given year actually increase capacity in an area or region? Wouldn’t that be a good long-term thing, even with the short-term pain? Or is it like the ‘parable of the broken windows’? After all, you can stimulate activity with a broken window, but you can’t base your entire economy on breaking windows.
