Discernment is more than knowledge or wisdom. It is wisdom in action, guided by Spirit. Discernment is the power that allows us to recognize abundance where scarcity seems to rule, and to separate from cruelty or negativity that diminishes us. Drawing inspiration from the Hebrew King Solomon, Frederick Douglass, who came to Rochester seeking the freedom he had already found in his own mind, James Dillet Freeman, Napoleon Hill, and contemporary New Thought teachers, we see that liberation often begins spiritually, even before it manifests physically.
Practical steps include:
* Seeing beyond appearances to the deeper truth.
* Choosing love and separating from cruelty.
* Seeking first the kingdom of God within, trusting that all else will follow.
Denial: I separate from all that diminishes me and embrace only what uplifts me.
Affirmation: I seek first the kingdom of God within me, and all else is added in perfect order.
“I went by the field of the sluggard… and, lo, it was all grown over with thorns… Then I beheld, and considered well; I saw, and received instruction.” Proverbs 24:30–32
