THEME OF SERMON: The church’s mission

is to witness about God’s redemptive work through

our proclamation, love for others, and love for God.

MAIN POINT 1:

We Witness Through Proclamation

We must know what to proclaim

1. The ministry of reconciliation! (2 Corinthians 5:17-21)
2. We must come as beggars.

We must know when and how to proclaim

1. Prayerful, spirit-directed witness is how the church fulfilled this calling.
2. Faithfully walk where the Spirit leads. (Acts 4:23-24)

MAIN POINT 2:

Witness Through Our Love for Others

Our new life changes everything about us.

1. The Spirit leads us to do good works. (Matthew 5:16)
2. The Spirit gives us Godly love for one another. (John 13:35)

Our status as God’s children changes our priorities.

1. We desire and pursue the maturity of the church. (Ephesians 4:11-12)
2. The church is the primary place where a disciple is formed.

MAIN POINT 3:

We Witness Through Our Love for God

Worship shapes us.

1. Your love for God should be your strongest love, and it should always be growing.
2. “The Church-the body of Christ-is the place where God invites us to renew our loves, reorient our desires, and retrain our appetites.” James K. A. Smith

Worship protects us.

1. We live in a world that pulls at our desires.
2. By focusing our eyes on the majesty and beauty of God, we are not easily hooked into idolatry. (Philippians 3:8-9)

CONCLUSION:

Press on, Church!

1. Let us press on to maturity so that we may be protected from the schemes of the enemy! (Ephesians 4:13-14)

• The enemy's greatest lies are the ones that lead us to disobey God while believing we are obeying Him.
• Use the word to determine how we must proclaim and love!

2. Faithfulness means we grow in our witness!

• Pray that God would mature us so that our witness as a church grows.
