good short stories, and educational, easy to read

Great Idea, Poor Execution

A series of short essays on California history is a great idea for a book and I admire the author for following through on it all the way to self-publishing. However, the essays themselves are poorly written with numerous layout and typographical errors. One of the most irritating examples of the writing problems is when the author randomly throws in a paragraph or two unrelated to the current essay. In a book where the essays run 3-6 pages each, you would think he could stay on topic.
