Director Jonathan Schienberg, executive producer Jaime Davila, and Jamil Sunsin join us to discuss their documentary, “Colossus.” The film is about New Jersey-based teenager, Jamil Sunsin, one of the nearly 700,000 U.S. children who have lost their parents to deportation in the last 20 years. His parents and sister fled Honduras and lived in the U.S. for a decade before Jamil’s father was arrested for being undocumented. The entire family, including his DACA-eligible sister, was forced to return to the uncertainty and violence of Honduras. Only Jamil remains in the United States.

Paul Kiel, (at 26:00) a ProPublica reporter covering consumer finance, and Jesse Eisinger, a senior reporter and editor, join us to discuss their new article, “Who’s More Likely to Be Audited: A Person Making $20,000 — or $400,000?”

T. R. Reid, (at 39:00) a longtime correspondent for The Washington Post and former chief of its Tokyo and London bureaus, joins us to discuss the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), the biggest tax overhaul in the United States in over 30 years and what this new law will mean for taxpayers in 2019. His latest book is A Fine Mess: A Global Quest for a Simpler, Fairer, and More Efficient Tax System.
