Commercial landlords should be more understanding - Little

The Justice Minister says he shares business owners' frustration over the lack of Government assistance to settle disputes between landlord and tenant in the wake of the Covid-19 lockdown.

In early June, a $40 million fund was set up, to subsidise 75 percent of mediation fees, if there was a problem with a commercial lease.

It followed months of political wrangling within the coalition government.

However, over a month later, still not a single dollar of that fund has been spent because the plan hasn't been signed-off by Cabinet.

Andrew Little told our reporter, Harry Lock landlords should be more understanding.
