This week, County Judge Wade McKinney and I discuss COVID, Meals on Wheels, and a possible grant to help catch illegal dumpers.
The Breakdown (Quotes from Judge Wade McKinney)
-- COVID update. (1:25)
The hospitalizations in TSA which includes Henderson County have dipped to the lowest level since the middle of July. You can find links to COVID information on the County’s website here.
Last week, Gov. Abbott issued an executive order that linked an expanded opening of the economy to the percentage of people in the hospital for COVID-19.
“We’re about where we were July 10.”
-- Meals on Wheels resolution. (14:15)
Commissioners Court approved a resolution in support of Meals on Wheels to bring the program to Henderson County and open up funding for the program.
“Great program and a great bunch of volunteers, because that is exactly what they are, volunteers trying to bring this service out to the residents that actually depend on it.”
-- Solid Waste Grant application. (17:30)
Commissioners Court approved a grant application for 10 game cameras to catch illegal dumping.
“It has been very, very successful in being able to catch individuals.”
-- Upcoming election. (24:20)
Early voting is scheduled to begin Oct. 19. This week, the Henderson County Elections Office sent out about 3,000 mail out votes.
“The same statutes have been in place for years, these are requested ballots and Texas, of course, is very specific about who is eligible for them.”
