The approach to Agüimes reminds me of similarareas in Italy, towns perched on mountain tops, where the buildings seem to grow right out of the ground, and you can’t tell where the rock ends and the buildings begin. Its structures color the landscape in hues of beige andsunlight, and the church, La Parroquia de San Sebastián, en el casco de Agüimes, the historical downtown, beckons me from afar.
