On July 17, 1975, twin gynecologists Cyril and Stewart Marcus were found dead in their upscale Manhattan apartment, surrounded by decaying chicken parts, rotten fruit, and empty pill bottles. The rise and precipitous fall of the doctors was the inspiration for David Cronenberg’s 1988 film, Dead Ringers, starring Jeremy Irons as both of the identical twins.
