In spite of the cold weather, the atmosphere of Monona’s southern shore was warm Saturday, as members of the community gathered at sunset in the San Damiano Park to celebrate the Fire and Wonder Winter Gathering.
Organized by the Friends of San Damiano, Fire and Wonder is a celebration of the winter season, community and Ho-Chunk history and culture. Activities ranged from a candlelit serenity walk and glowstick scavenger hunt to an educational Indigenous cording demonstration and storytelling sessions.
