The final Democratic debate before next month’s Iowa caucuses highlighted an exchange between Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren that essentially asked this question:  Can a woman defeat President Trump?  Another question:  Can’t the debate moderators let the candidates debate instead of interrupting in the middle of a sentence?  Janet Hook of the L.A. Times offers her analysis of the two-hour affair, hosted by CNN and the Des Moines Register.

One person not on the debate stage Tuesday night was Cory Booker, the New Jersey senator who dropped out of the race the day before because of low polling numbers and weak fundraising.  Jonathan Salant of NJ Advance Media summarizes the end of a contender who initially showed great promise.

Maryland Democrats go to the polls on Tuesday, Feb. 4, to nominate a successor to the late Rep. Elijah Cummings.  Jenna Portnoy of the Washington Post handicaps the race.
