Dr. Tye’s team now works to identify the mechanisms through which stress contributes to the development of psychiatric disorders, with a focus on factors that control synaptic function.  Many children will experience a form of bullying at some point during their childhood or adolescence. Bullying is a serious problem in schools around the country, and it can cause serious long-term problems. When a child or adolescent is bullied consistently it teaches them to take a certain view of what is normal in relationships and can be damaging to their developing self-image.
