In this episode, Grant McHerron & Ewen Levick talk with Tim Pickford, Director of Strategy & Business Development at Hanwha Defense Australia.
We start off by learning about the history of HDA and their approach to servicing the Defence industry and international opportunities, most recently with armoured, tracked vehicles. The discussion then explores how HDA is working to automate their suite of vehicles, training autonomous systems, and learning to work with these systems cohesively.
Tim then gives us an insight into Hanwha’s extensive portfolio of other services, including food, finance, construction and robotics. We also get a better understanding of how Hanwha is working to build a battlefield internet of things, in addition to some of their other projects surrounding improving battery technology and increasing welding performance to create armour. Finally, we wrap up by discussing the expansion of Hanwha in Australia and internationally.
