As the cost associated with the treatment of coronavirus is said to be high, Bengaluru-based insurance company Digit Insurance has launched an insurance product for coronavirus-impacted individuals in India.

The insurance cover has been built under Digit’s health insurance product Digit Health Care Plus.

The company claims that it has filed the coronavirus-related insurance product under IRDAI’s sandbox regulations which encourage insurance providers to launch and test innovative products for the Indian market.

The launch of a coronavirus insurance product by Digit Insurance comes after it raised $84 Mn funding from A91 Partners, Faering Capital and TVS Capital at a post-money valuation of about $870 Mn last month.
