The Bible: the primary means through which God desires to lead us
Psalm 119:24
Isaiah 55:8
What is naturally intuitive to us could lead us astray;
context / perspective / outcomes
Romans 12:2
Principle: A timeless truth; the way God operates
Principle: unchangeable, timeless, fundamental truths
Promise: a declaration of God that grants its recipients the right of expectation
Proverb: observations, a sense of general expectation
Principles guide actions,
promises create expectations, and
proverbs offer best practices and insight into life.
PRINCIPLES:
Stated:
You reap what you sow. (Gal 6:7)
You are better off spending time with people who are wise. (Prov 13:20)
Parents have a responsibility to train their children. (Prov 22:6)
Implied:
Unconditional love is the most powerful force on the human soul.
Maximum freedom is found under God’s authority.
Every decision we make is going to intersect with a principle from Scripture.
1 Samuel 24
Principles allow us to see through the fog… to see clearly what God would have us do.
Psalm 119:105
