Description:

Storytelling. A term we hear so little about, but a term, that has the power to transform how we think, what we believe, and how we act. A tool that has the power to take scientific and medical concepts and translate them into meaningful, relatable, memorable moments for patients and the general public. Today, I could not be more excited to share with you a conversation with an expert at just that. Dr. Alok Patel, a medical storyteller, a Pediatric Hospitalist, a CNN TV producer, a vaccine defender, a broadcast journalist, an entrepreneur, and a fighter of pseudoscience. Dr. Patel practices in NYC and balances working as a producer for networks like ABC and CNN in NYC, LA and SF. Dr. Patel attended medical school in Arizona, completed his Pediatric Residency in Seattle, and completed an ABC News Medical Unit Residency elective. Since that time Alok has gone on to produce and host different shows and programs on TV. He is passionate about fighting false information found on the internet and has a passion for policy and public health that stems from his core passion of being a physician. In this episode, we dive deep discussing his path to medicine, what medical school was like, why anyone interested in producing or broadcast journalism needs to first focus on medical school, how he got involved in producing in the first place, and what advice he has for anyone interested. This episode is full of fire and you guys are going to love Dr. Alok Patel.
