Today, we could not be more excited to bring you an interview with Dr. Edith Bracho-Sanchez, a third-year pediatric resident in Philadelphia. Edith was born in Venezuela and moved to the states during high school dealing. During college, her family was sent back to Venezuela, and through a series of events she was able to return and finish school in Florida. Edith went to medical school in NYC, is a contributor for HealthyChildren.org, has served on the ABC News Medical Unit and has been featured on Good Morning America as a Medical Expert. Edith also has her own podcast called “Las Doctoras Recomiendan Podcast” a pediatric health podcast in Spanish by Latina pediatricians for latino parents. If you have Spanish speaking patients who have kids, this is the perfect outlet! @lasdoctorasrecomiendan In this episode, we dive deep discussing her path to medicine, what it was like growing up as an immigrant, what physicians should remember when dealing with immigrant patient populations, what it means to be a doctor, why she is doing a fellowship in journalism and narrative medicine, and how she manages to have a long-distance relationship in Residency. For anyone who is an international student or who has suffered setbacks, this episode is for you!
