Today, The Annex explores the present state of sociology in the Netherlands, and the major issue of concern facing Dutch sociologists. This episode features special guest hosts Katya Ivanova and John Boy, and features guests Giselinde Kuipers and Eva Jaspers.

Giselinde Kuipers is research professor at the Catholic University Leuven. She is the author of Good Humor, Bad Taste: A Sociology of the Joke and is currently writing a book about beauty as taste and duty.  

Eva Jaspers is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Utrecht

Katya Ivanova is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Tillburg University. Her current work focuses on the strength of intergenerational ties and individual well-being in stepfamilies, with a particular focus on the stepmother role. Twitter: @katyaoivanova

John Boy is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Leiden University, and affiliate with Leiden's Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology.
