Elohim: The Creator God

Big Idea: God introduces His characteristics to us through the purposeful revelation of His many names. His very first name introduction is Elohim, the mighty Creator God.
• Jehovah-shalom: The Lord is Peace
• Jehovah-raah: The Lord is my Shepherd
• El Roi: God Who Sees
• Jehovah-jireh: The Lord Will Provide
• Jehovah-rapha: The Lord Who Heals
• Jehovah-nissi: The Lord My Banner
• Jehovah-shammah: The Lord is There
What was He wanting us to know when He called himself Elohim?
1. Elohim meant that God is distinct from His creation (Transcendent)...Transcendent: to exist above and independent from; to rise above all that is created
2. Elohim meant that God is apart from the constraints of time (Timeless)
3. Elohim means that God is apart from the constraints of space (Omnipresent)...Omnipresent: God is present everywhere…at all the same time
4. Elohim means that God is an intensely personal God (Intimate)
Application:
How can understanding God as Elohim change my life?
1. We can live knowing that the Creator owns it all
2. We can live knowing that the Creator has the rights of ownership
3. We can live knowing that God sees us with with tremendous value.
