This week, Martin Merrick talks to PhD student Jake Delaney on all things sheep, from his home farm to his studies in Athenry on lameness.
Jake Delaney is very much flying the flag for the sheep industry in Ireland. From a (controversial) flock of Jacob and commercial ewes to his college thesis that ended up being similar to his PhD, I chat to Jake about all things sheep related, namely his study on lameness in the Irish flock. With very little research completed here in Ireland, Jake is seeking to find out the prevalence of lameness in Irish flocks, some of the main causes and what treatments are working best for farmers.
