This is episode 21 of The Truth Tank.

On this Christmas Special episode we will be looking at one of the most misunderstood and interesting figures of ancient history and that is none other than King Herod The Great. Was Herod really as bad as he was made out to be? is there some truth behind the Herod that appears in the Biblical story of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew. We will take a look at Herod’s appearance in the Bible and his actions in the infamous story of ‘’The Massacre of Innocents’’ is there some truth to the Bibles bad guy and his brutal reputation that he has become known for.We will also dive into the origin story of Herod, From his upbringing in a privileged household, His father Antipater’s role in forging what would become Herod’s kingdom, his love of the Roman Empire, to the challenges he faced taking back his kingdom during one of the most turbulent times in Jewish History. Looked at also will be the mental and psychological struggles Herod faced during this time and the famous historical characters that all played apart in the story of Herod The Great.Is there any truth to the Bibles bad guy or is Herod a convenient villain, is his brutal reputation warranted? What is true and what has been taken out of context. As always I’ll leave this up to you to decide.
