EP 264 Chris Nee: Creator of Doc McStuffins & Vampirina on Disney Jr

Listen Later

Chuck & Stacey conclude their interview with Chris Nee, the Peabody and Emmy award winning creator, writer and producer of the hit shows, Doc McStuffins and Vampirina on Disney Jr. Chris talks about the motivation behind and challenges of casting real kids to play key roles versus casting adult voice actors to play kids. She shares the story of how her newest show Vampirina came to be, as well as the incredible good fortune she has to work with casting director, Maria Estrada. She reminds talent of the importance of being a good actor, making creative choices, being prepared for opportunities and manifesting what you want to accomplish in your career. Chris discusses her approach to her own career and shares the memorable experience she had directing Jim Cummings as Winnie the Pooh in Doc McStuffins. She speaks to her hopes of creating characters that will have a positive impact on kids and the lessons she’s learned in life that have helped her professionally. Chris encourages viewers to embrace what’s different about themselves and not to wait for someone else’s permission to have the life you want. She talks about the origin of her work ethic, her passion for having a sense of community and her love of Ireland and the Irish people.
