Well, Jaden did it he finally killed a bull! After one hell of a season filled with close calls young Jaden bulled it all together on his last day. If you have followed along with the podcast this year we put out a 201 mini-course, which mainly stemmed from conversations between Jaden Bales and myself. Jaden was bound and determined to kill his first bull with his bow this year. Before the season we recorded a podcast and Jaden had a lot of great questions around elk hunting and things that he was struggling with. This episode we got the chance to follow up after a roller coaster of a season. Poor Jaden had about as rough of a season as you can have with misses, bad weather, a blown up truck, and more he had every right to throw in the towel but he stuck with it to the very end and in panned out.

In this episode, we talk about the lessons learned, the mindset shift and what it means to him now to see that 201 level hunter. I think I was as happy for him as he was when I finally got that text of a blood-soaked arrow.

This podcast is brought to you by Stone Glacier Gear and their new Chilkoot series of sleeping bags. Stone Glacier is renowned for making the best lightweight badass technical gear, and the new Chilkoot Sleeping bags prove just that as they once again knocked it out of the park. First off, I am a bit of a cold sleeper in the mountains and have historically been cold on just about every hunt. Last year, I got the Chilkoot 15° bag and have slept dozens of nights in it and haven’t gotten cold once, even when temperatures have dipped past the bag’s temp rating. This bag is by far and away the best sleeping bag I have ever owned. Stone Glacier was able to achieve an overall weight and warmth rating that is the best-in-class. The Chilkoot 15° bag weighs in at an impressively low 2 lbs 3 oz. and is the lightest bag by far that I have ever used. If you are tired of freezing your ass off and want to bag that won’t weigh your pack down head over to StoneGlacier.com and get yourself a Chilkoot sleeping bag, you will thank me in the middle of a cold night. This episode is brought to you by On X Maps. As if On X wasn’t one of the most used tools already, On X has launched some assume new features that make it even better. Sharing waypoints has been a great feature but now you have the ability to share where things like camp, the truck, treestands, and even complete routes with whoever you want. One cool way I have been using this as a solo hunter is that I can not only share a pin with my wife showing where my truck is but I am also able to send her the route I plan to take that way if anything happens they have some idea where I am. This great new feature is also great for sharing routes on how to get to a stand or glassing location. All of this is just one more reason why you need to get yourself the an On X Membership and truly start utilizing its potential. Signup at onxmaps.com and use the TRO code to save yourself 20% off.
