EP127: Brooks & Brooks Hairdressing: Staying Ahead of the Competition with Jamie Brooks

Listen Later

Developing and nurturing the talent of young up and coming hairdressers is at the heartbeat of the Brooks & Brooks Hairdressing philosophy. It’s been this approach that has been a key factor in why they consistently remain one the most successful names in British hairdressing. Today we are to be joined by one half of it’s owners, Jamie Brooks, who’s going to share his brilliant business acumen on how to stay ahead of the competition – something Brooks and Brooks Hairdressing have done for the last 18 years.

Three times winner of London Hairdresser of the Year, Jamie Brooks commands considerable respect on the British hairdressing circuit thanks to a host of awards, judging roles, high-profile editorial and celebrity clients. In this episode, we get to talk to Jamie about the early beginnings of Brooks and Brooks and how along with his business partner and current British Hairdresser of the Year, Sally Brooks, work closely with their team of young stylists, encouraging them to step outside their comfort zones and push their creativity. You can tell how much pride Jamie and Sally have in this and is a great lesson to us all in growing a strong salon business.

We also go in to detail on Jamie’s views on managing team expectations and why keeping the right balance on creative budgets – such as photoshoots and shows – has been essential for the longterm success of Brooks and Brooks Hairdressing. And be sure to check out the full episode as Jamie covers the biggest challenge for the high street. You won’t want to miss it!

So what are we waiting for, lets get to this brilliant interview with Jamie Brooks.
