In 1986 when many of their hardcore peers started crossing over into metal the Cro-Mags dropped an uncompromising NYHC classic with their debut album The Age of Quarrel. John Joseph, Harley Flanagan and Parris Mayhew were already veterans of the scene by the time of it’s release but their legacy was solidified as soon as the pummeling intro to We Gotta Know kicks in. The original line-up would never record together again but these fifteen tracks were enough to make the Cro-Mags hardcore legends. It was intense and mind blowing at the time but does it still hold up today?
