英文中常用”under the weather”來表達身體的不適，但你知道這句慣用語居然是來自航海時代的用語嗎?
身體不舒服到底跟航海的專業術語有什麼關係呢?

🎯挑戰任務: 練習用”under the weather”來回答下面的問題

What do you usually do when you’re feeling sick but have important work or school tasks?
當你生病但有重要工作或課業時，你通常會怎麼做？

有時候，我們身心都會有點不舒服。
不一定是感冒，也許是壓力太大、心累、或只是突然有點不想努力了。
但沒關係，人生本來就有風也有浪，風平浪靜也有時。
如果你最近也感覺有點撐不住，那就讓自己暫時靠岸、休息一下吧。⚓
你不需要一直武裝，硬撐著強壯，休息是為了走更長的路。
把自己照顧好就是負責的態度。
願我們都安好。

🎙️【宿醉情境對話】"你昨天喝太嗨了吧？"
👩A（同事）：
你還好嗎？你看起來臉色有點慘白耶。
Are you okay? You look kind of pale.
🧑B（主角）：
嗯…我今天有點不太舒服。
Uh... I’m feeling a bit under the weather today.
👩A：
真的假的？不會是covid吧？還是…
Really? Don’t tell me you’re covid positive… or...
🧑B：
（尷尬地笑）呃…其實是昨晚跟大學朋友聚餐，幾杯下去就……
(awkward laugh) Uh… actually, I had dinner with some college friends last night, and… well… one drink led to another.
👩A：
喔～原來是那種”不舒服”阿～我懂我懂。
Ohh, that kind of “under the weather”! Say no more. I get it.
🧑B：
拜託…幫我跟主管說我中暑好了，聽起來比較健康。
Please… tell the boss I got heatstroke or something. Sounds healthier.
👩A：
沒問題，我會說你絕對不是因為宿醉而不舒服。
No problem. I’ll say it was definitely not hang-over.

🧑‍🏫【情境二：請病假通知】"主管，我今天不太行..."

🧑B（員工）：
哈囉，我只是想讓你知道我今天身體有點不舒服。
Hi, I just wanted to let you know I’m feeling a bit under the weather today.
👩A（主管）：
喔，辛苦了。你今天會請假休息嗎？
Sorry to hear that. Are you taking the day off?
🧑B：
嗯，我想我今天會在家休息一下。如果之後還是沒好轉，我會再跟你更新狀況。
Yeah, I think I’ll stay home and rest. I’ll keep you posted if I need a longer break.
👩A：
沒問題，好好休息，早日康復。
No problem. Take care and hope you feel better soon!
