Episode 104: Unlocking Nonprofit Success: Recruitment, Retention, and Strategic Partnerships

Listen Later

In a recent episode of A Modern Nonprofit Podcast, host Tosha Anderson sat down with Greg Miller, President and CEO of Penn-Mar Human Services, to discuss the critical issues of recruitment, retention, and strategic partnerships in the nonprofit sector. With over three decades of experience in human services and nonprofit management, Miller shared valuable insights on how organizations can attract and retain top talent while fostering meaningful partnerships.

Mission-Driven Recruitment
Miller emphasized the significance of hiring for mission rather than just function. He stressed that potential employees and volunteers should have a clear understanding of how their work contributes to the organization's overall mission. This approach not only attracts individuals who are passionate about the cause but also helps in retaining them for the long term.
At Penn-Mar, the focus is on helping recruits understand how they fit into the organization's mission of supporting people with disabilities. This clarity of purpose has been instrumental in attracting high-caliber talent and reducing turnover rates.
