The Magic Organ

Episode 115: Last New Music before the End of '25 Best of roundup

Listen Later

This is the last new music episode before the end of year roundup, don't be sad. New releases are slowing to a trickle, best of year lists start coming out around Thanksgiving or just afterwards.

This year my best of 2025 record list has 38 releases on it, which is historically high. As you may not know from my podcast commentary I'm a finicky mofo, my definition of a best record of the year involves the record being good, having some meaning and nutritional value to it, and music that bears repeated listening. Most of the records on the major music outlets' best of year lists do not meet these requirements, especially the repeated listening part.

The music industry is notoriously lazy and corrupt, so that's one of my main arguments in favor of The Magic Organ ruling the roost in terms of picking music, my shit is honest and professional.

Hopefully this nerded out description has you super hotted up for the best of year roundup and there are three records on my best of 2025 list in this episode, so some last minute entries into the derby. I have to listen more to the new Shad record to see if it qualifies.

Thanks for listening.

I'm always open to listener suggested playlists if you feel you can hang with the host. Personally most people can't hang, I listen to music pretty much all day most days.

You can find these artists on bandcamp and streaming outlets. You can support them by listening and telling your friends. You can celebrate what they do! Let this shitass 13 minute podcast inspire you. God forbid.
