This week, Amy Darvill, Marketing Director ANZ at Vinarchy, joins us to share her thoughts on how to navigate a successful career in marketing. She gives insight into some of her own career highlights thus far, including going through the merging of two well established businesses in the wine industry. 

Amy teaches the importance of the marketing function being included in business strategy (not an addition to) and that great marketing professionals should be confident in their ability to influence cross-functionally, speak the language of their stakeholders and demonstrate how their ‘brand-building activity’ is contributing to the growth of the business. In Amy’s words, it’s just as important to be able to market your ideas internally, as it is to market successfully to consumers – get the business inspired by your idea. 

When it comes to career advice, Amy believes that you should take time to master your craft and learn, then the right career path will follow – the worst thing you can do is rush.
