This interview with Jan Haaken was incredible. That is to say that she’s incredible. Jan has a lot to say about trauma, what trauma is and is not and how it’s perceived both by society and the clinicians who treat it. Jan is one of the most inspiring people I’ve spoken to given the breadth of what she’s doing and the various ways in which she’s bringing to light the discussion around trauma, resiliency and society.  Jan is a professor emeritus of psychology at Portland State University, clinical psychologist, author, and documentary filmmaker. Jan has published extensively in the areas of psychoanalysis and feminism, the history of psychiatric diagnosis, the psychology of storytelling, group responses to violence, and the dynamics of social change. From refugee camps, war zones, domestic violence shelters and asylums to drag bars and hip-hop clubs, her projects focus on people who inhabit the border zones of society and their insights on the broader social order. In This EpisodeJan’s WebsitePsychiatry, Politics and PTSD, Jan HaakenHard Knocks: Domestic Violence and the Psychology of Storytelling, Jan HaakenMind Zone (film), Jan HaakenJan on FacebookJan on LinkedinThe Trauma Therapist Newsletter is out!The monthly online resource for trauma therapists everywhere.Conferences.Modalities.Books.Writing.News.And incredible people to keep you inspired.Become a subscriber today:https://bold-field-2905.ck.page/ca2f049099Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-trauma-therapist-podcast-with-guy-macpherson-phd-inspiring-interviews-with-thought-leaders-in-the-field-of-trauma/exclusive-contentBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-trauma-therapist--5739761/support.
