The idea is the Jews were claiming that if Jesus Christ was really the Son of God, and His Gospel message was true, then every person would receive Him. Paul counters this line of thinking with the words of Isaiah, which states that few would believe the report of the Lord. When the sinner hears the Word of God as it is preached by a Spirit filled believer, the sinner will either believe or not believe what they have heard.
