Fall Fishing Forecast Lake Texoma: Stripers, Bass, and Catfish Thrive in Cooler Weather

Listen Later

As of October 9, 2024, the fishing scene at Lake Texoma is looking promising, especially with the cooler weather setting in. Here’s what you need to know for a successful day on the water.

### Water and Weather Conditions
The lake elevation is currently at 615.37 feet, which is about 1.51 feet below the pool level.
The water temperature is around 75 degrees, and the water is slightly stained. The weather has cooled off, with daytime highs in the mid-80s and nighttime lows in the mid-60s.

### Sunrise and Sunset
Sunrise today is at around 7:30 AM, and sunset will be at approximately 6:45 PM.

### Fish Activity
Striped bass fishing has been excellent, particularly with live bait on ledges in 25-40 feet of water near river channels and creeks. These fish are still moving fast but are starting to slow down and feed more aggressively.
Bass fishing is picking up, with Alabama rigs and paddle tails working well near docks and down the bluffs in the morning. Soft plastics and hard baits are effective on main lake points and in the backs of cuts during the midday.
Catfishing remains great, with shad and prepared baits yielding good results near humps in 15-20 feet of water for channel catfish, and on ledges in 30-50 feet of water for blue catfish.

### Best Lures and Bait
For striped bass, live bait on ledges is the way to go. As the weather cools further, expect the topwater bite to improve in the shallows.
For bass, use Alabama rigs with paddle tails near structures and soft plastics or hard baits on main lake points.
For catfish, shad and prepared baits are highly effective.

### Hot Spots
One of the best spots right now is near the river channels and creeks, where striped bass are actively feeding on live bait. Trolling along ledges in 25-40 feet of water can yield excellent results.
Another hot spot is the area east of the 377 bridge, where fish are often found on the river ledge and near the horse pens area.

Overall, Lake Texoma is offering some great fishing opportunities as the weather transitions into fall. Make sure to take advantage of the cooler mornings and target the right structures with the right bait.
