ALONE IN A CROWD

The room was crowded, but all I saw was you.

So handsome and debonair, and well-dressed too.

I suppose I heard some voices; I couldn’t really tell.

If I’m being completely honest, only my eyes were working well.

I wanted to be near you, but my feet would not comply

Frozen in place, staring at you, as the crowd was passing by.

The people began to clear a path, so I could walk to you

To my surprise and sheer delight, you were walking too.

The distance between us disappeared and

We were standing toe-to-toe.

You looked into my eyes and said,

“It’s time for us to go”.

I gladly accepted your outstretched hand,

I could not have been more proud.

From that moment on, we were one.

I was no longer alone in a crowd.
