This week in Good Pop Bad Pop for movies we talk about the new horror/thriller film The Rental that just dropped on VOD. It’s written and directed by Dave Franco and stars Alison Brie and Dan Stevens. We aren’t done talking horror though. Host just dropped on Shudder directed by Rob Savage. Six friends hire a medium to hold a scene via Zoom during lock down – but they get far more than they bargained for as things quickly go wrong. When an evil spirit starts invading their homes, they begin to realize they might not survive the night. Host was shot remotely during quarantine and features groundbreaking scares, stunts, and surprises, all filmed by the actors in their own homes, operating their own cameras, helping pull off their own practical effects, and lighting their own scenes.

And we all watched the documentary Tread where pushed to his breaking point, a master welder in a small town at the foot of the Rocky Mountains quietly fortifies a bulldozer with 30 tons of concrete and steel and seeks to destroy those he believes have wronged him. And we all discuss Todd McFarlane: Like Hell I Won’t that premiered on SyFy.

In TV we talk about the new Netflix series Transformers: The War for Cybertron with special guest Daniel Hoeppner. Greg and Brian discuss the HBO Max comedy Frayed. We also discuss the first episode of Helter Skelter the new 6 part docu-series on EPIX that gives us the the complete story behind the Manson Family. And Brian and Quinton discuss the reality cooking competition show Crazy Delicious on Netflix.
