Folks Like Us - The Value of the Healing the Sick and Casting Out Demons
Ephesians 6:12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
We are continuing in our series, Folks Like Us, by looking at the value of the unity of the healing the sick and casting out demons!
We have the privilege of hearing from Ken Fish, of Orbis Ministries, speaking on the power of the Holy Spirit to heal the sick and cast out demons. Something that many of us don't think about on a daily basis, though we should, is that we live in a spiritual world, and there are powers and principalities that we have to both address and dismantle through the power of Christ!
It may seem daunting or scary to pray for the sick, but we look to Jesus as both our model and our guide. He saw everyone's needs in an intimate way, and many times throughout the Gospels, it says that he healed because he was "full of compassion." The other way to say this was that Jesus was fed up with the situation, and he knew that he himself was the answer to all their hurts.
When we're praying for the sick and casting out demons, we're not doing in our own strength because "silver and gold we don't have, but who we do have we freely give" as Peter told to the man outside the gate in Acts.
This weekend, we'll be looking at how we are all called and empowered by the Holy Spirit to heal the sick and cast out evil in the world.
