We are continuing in our series, Folks Like Us, by looking at the value of evangelism!

Evangelism comes from the Greek word for "spreading the Gospel," and we sometimes think of it terms of outreach and missions and going out there. Which is absolutely true, but that doesn't capture the fullness of what it means to be evangelistic.

Someone really smart once said, "Preach the gospel at all times. And if necessary, use words." What this means is that our lives and lifestyles should be evangelistic in nature. We should be drawing people into relationship with Jesus with how we live, act, think, and speak, and evangelism is simply telling another person where to find the Living Water.

All people are searching and hungry and desire something greater than themselves, and what evangelism is all about is pointing people to Jesus. As we go out into the world to tell who Jesus is, what he's done, and what he's doing, the Holy Spirit empowers us in our going.
