Former Botswana president Ian Khama has quit the ruling party, the Botswana Democratic Party - BDP - in a row with his hand-picked successor, current president Mokgweetsi Masisi. Khama told thousands of supporters in his rural home town of Serowe over the weekend that he made a "mistake" in choosing Masisi as the president. The feud has threatened to split the party that has ruled the country since its independence in 1966. The latest political developments in the country also come in the wake where South African businesswoman and president of the South African Mining Development Association, Bridgette Radebe who was accused of meddling in Botswana's succession politics.
