It’s normal to feel anxious, sad, nervous, scared, or disappointed — along with many other uncomfortable emotions. Sometimes it’s healthy to embrace these emotions. Experiencing them may help you heal.

But it’s not healthy to stay stuck in a dark place. When your emotions aren’t serving you well, it’s important to have healthy coping skills that can help you regulate your emotions so you can feel better.

And while going for a walk might help one person feel better after a rough day at the office, someone else might find reading a book is the perfect pick-me-up.

In today’s episode, I’ll teach you how to identify your own personal mood boosters. These strategies will help you feel better when you need to cheer yourself up or calm yourself down.

It’s an exercise I’ve used with many people in my therapy office over the years. It’s a simple but effective way to create a toolbox of strategies that you can try the next time you want to feel a little better.
