Welcome to Game On JOY 94.9’s Home of Sport live every Wednesday from 6-7pm where you’ll hear where you can get your game on! This show is all about showcasing where sport is safe, inclusive, welcoming and fun for the Rainbow community!

Gail and Glenn, founders of Country Struts, the boot-scooting group that’s been taking Melbourne by storm had the Carlton AFLW team jumping, turning, and toe-tapping their way through a full session of boot scouting fun recently. Did the fun factor get them the win and into the AFLW Semi-Final for 2025? Let’s say yes! You’ll be on a winner if you give boot scouting a go with Gail – the real deal rodeo dance queen complete with denim and rhinestones and concrete cowpoke Glenn! (Starts 2:14)

You are never too old to give sport a go! Singer and songwriter Nicolette Forte picked up a footy 20 years after having to put it down as a 13 year old with no pathway at te time. Enter the over 35s AFL masters women’s league and the mighty Parkside Spurs! Nicolette nicknamed Nico Kico for her kicking prowess is loving the game so much so that she wrote a song about it – The Chasing Game. Check out the video featuring the team! (Starts 11:43)

We welcome Melbourne United Head Coach Dean Vickerman to the JOY Sport Studio to chat about the club’s incredible support for inclusion in basketball. This is the fourth consecutive year the professional basketball club has supported basketball being a sport for everyone with another Pride Round planned for February 7 2026  at John Cain Arena. The game will be against the Adelaide 36ers – the team Isaac Humphries plays with Isaac being the  first openly-gay NBL player coming out in November 2022. Isaac played for Melbourne United at the time and Dean talks about the support for Isaac and why inclusion for the club is so important. (Starts 21:48)

On Sunday just gone, the 16 November, it marked three years to the day that Isaac Humphries came out to the world and changed his life forever to become the only active openly gay male professional basketball player in a top-tier league anywhere in the world. We hear part of an interview Isaac shared on Adelaide’s NOVA919 with Jodie & Hayesy of the impact it made to himself, and a global audience. (Starts 42:18)

A big thank you to our wonderful guests for their support of an inclusive and supportive sporting culture and mindset, and encouraging everyone in the Rainbow community to get their game on!

And thank you for being a part of Team Game On!
