Episode 26: God’s Justice as a Gift, Not a Threat
Series: Week 6 – Governmental (Moral Order)
In this episode of The Encouraging Word, Pastor Eric reflects on the meaning of God’s justice within the life of redemption. Many people experience the idea of divine justice as something frightening or oppressive — a threat hanging over human life.
But Scripture presents God’s justice differently.
God’s moral order is not designed to harm us, but to sustain life, protect goodness, and preserve what is right. Justice is not merely punishment — it is the structure that allows love, trust, and flourishing to exist.
The cross reveals that God does not abandon moral order to show mercy. Instead, He upholds justice while extending grace. In doing so, God demonstrates that His rule is both righteous and compassionate.
Scripture:
Psalm 89:14
Series Focus:
Governmental Theory emphasizes that God’s justice preserves moral order while allowing mercy to be extended without undermining righteousness.
Music:
Bumper music: “Mercy Flows” (original instrumental composition, 2006)
Encouraging Word for Today:
God’s justice is not against you — it exists to sustain what is good, true, and life-giving.
Reflection Prompt:
How might your view of God change if you saw His justice as protection rather than threat?
