Not worth the money.
Not worth the money. This isn't even a basic guide or a how to. It's more of a hyped up outline of what the book could contain, but fails to deliver. It has lines like "Once you start implementing the strategies outlined in this guide there will be a much greater chance of success for you." yet, it fails to outline any useful strategy or scenario. In fact, the practice/tutorial mode in hearthstone is more in depth, and that's free. The ebook 'guide' is only 27 pages and strictly outlines the different modes in Hearthstone in the most basic sense. There are over 700 cards in Hearthstone and, though it's unreasonable to expect an outline of even half of them, this 'guide' really only talks about maybe 6 or 7 of them and in no more detail than the text on the cards themselves. All in all, at $5 you're better off getting a coffee at the coffee shop cause you're likely to learn more from playing a couple of actual sessions of Hearthstone than by reading this book. If you're really into learning how to play the game, there are plenty of YouTube players that make great in-depth videos for free. I was really looking for an in-depth strategy guide that would help break down the nuances of HearthStone to help average players become better, but it looks like the market is still open for it.
Case in point. Book: "Senjin Shieldmasta is particularly great because of his high health - 5 health for 4 mana cost. Be cautious when using this card against Priests, since they can destroy you with their 3 mana cost Shadow Word pain."
Fine. A 4 mana 3 attack 5 health card is "okay" as a vanilla card (standalone). But it fails to outline what's truly important about the card... it's a taunt. Taunts help protect other cards by forcing the opponent to deal with them first before moving on to other minions or your hero. Yes, a priest can quickly dispose of it with a Shadow Word: Pain card but, perhaps, a better tip would be that the majority of Priest's hard removal cards are centered around 3 and below or 5 and above attack cards. So, if using a senjin, buffing it with a Stormwind Champion or other attack buff card to make it a 4 attack is the best course against a Priest since it becomes immune to most of Priests removal. Or other tips like, if using a Priest, a Shadow Madness + Youthful Brewmaster combo is infinitely better than a Cabal Shadow Priest since a Cabal Shadow Priest can steal a card but it's subject to 'turn fatigue' and it's limited to a 2 attack or less minion.
