Publisher's Summary:
Regency London's elegant ballrooms mask a daring world of erotic adventure. In this second novel in Gaelen Foley's Spicy Trilogy, a mysterious beauty with a devastating secret discovers, in the arms of a bold and fearless cavalry officer, passion that breaks all boundaries.
Some say the aristocratic Balfour clan is cursed, a once-great family now in slow decline. Graceful Lily Balfour is her family's last hope, and she has come to London with one goal - to marry a rich man. Her well-laid plans are balked, however, by the irresistible Major Derek Knight, a handsome highborn soldier and adventurer newly returned from India.
Hardened by battles on India's lawless frontiers, Derek is not just a fighter but a skilled and insatiable lover - a master of the Eastern arts of pleasure. Though Derek finds no shortage of willing women in London, it is the untouchable, aloof Lily who haunts him. After one stolen moment, he hungers for nights of sensual abandon to fulfill her fantasies and free her from her self-imposed prison. But he has come to England on a vital mission, and when Lily is pledged to a wealthy man suspected of corruption, Derek must thwart the treachery that ensnares them both - for only then will ecstasy and the sweet promise of her heart be his to claim.

Almost great romantic fantasy
Any additional comments?
This intricate novel had a lot of excitement, well defined characters and romance, but the story line seemed to be enough for three books and too much for one. The end especially, although interesting, could have been a separate book by itself. I enjoyed the performance by Rebecca Cook and felt a little disappointed that the story line just was a little too much in an otherwise interesting novel.
Awesome

Too long and wordy

Not sure
What do you think your next listen will be?
Some thing by Lisa Kleypas.
What about Rebecca Cooks performance did you like?
She does different voices well.
Any additional comments?
The dialogue was corny. Not enough passionate scenes or attraction between the main characters. So much narration and not enough action. Wordy, wordy, wordy!
awful narrator
thin love story, might have been readable but the narrator of this is terrible at a posh accent,. the story has aaarnimals and aarction anf lots of other horrendously sounding vowels.
Awful narrator 2
The one star rating is entirely due to the narration so apologies to Ms Foley. The story is amusing enough - but oh dear - this woman's idea of a 'posh' English accent has her saying 'fart' instead of 'fat'. The aaah gaffes are countless and ruin the flow and she also misreads several other words. Please, please dear, go on the internet and listen to the Queen and model your accent on hers! She is always right!
AS a warning, Ms Cook is not the only English imitator to fall into this 'long A, short A' trap.
For a good 'English' narrator, look for Barbara Rosenblat, Rosalyn Landor and Phyllida Nash.
