In this week’s message, we turned to Romans 5:1–5, where Paul reminds us that through Jesus we have peace with God, and that even in the midst of suffering we can rejoice — because suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope. And this hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.
With support from 2 Corinthians 6:10 — “sorrowful, yet always rejoicing” — and Matthew 14:22–33, the story of Jesus walking on the water, this sermon encourages us to see that hope is not the absence of suffering but the anchor that holds us steady in the storm. True hope in Christ allows us to face pain with confidence, knowing that our suffering is never wasted and that Jesus meets us right in the middle of it.
Are you clinging to the hope that only Christ can give?
Are you letting suffering refine your faith — or define your fear?
