The development of artificial intelligence (AI) in the United States heavily relies on immigrants, with many founders and leaders of top tech companies being immigrants themselves. Immigrants also play a significant role in the AI industry, with notable examples including leading figures at Stanford University's Human-Centered AI Institute and Google Brain. To keep up with AI advancements and enhance national security, the U.S. must attract and retain talented individuals from around the world. However, there is a lack of government professionals with the necessary technical expertise to effectively implement AI technologies. To address this, reforms to immigration laws are needed to facilitate the transition of international STEM talent from academia to industry.
