We’re closing out our Moving Forward series with a powerful and challenging truth: not all fear is bad. In fact, there is a kind of fear that will actually move your life forward.
After experiencing one of the greatest miracles in history—the parting of the Red Sea—the Israelites stepped into freedom. But it didn’t take long before fear, doubt, and complaining crept back in. Even after witnessing God’s power, they struggled to trust Him in the wilderness.
Why? Because God wasn’t just leading them out of Egypt—He was leading them into a relationship.
In this message, we explore how God used testing, provision, and instruction to build trust with His people. From manna in the morning to water from the rock, from battles in the wilderness to the powerful moment at Mount Sinai—God was showing them who He is and what it means to truly follow Him.
We also unpack the tension in Moses’ words:
There is a fear that paralyzes—but there is also a holy fear that produces:
God gave His people something to run to (His promises) and something to run from (disobedience and separation). But more than anything, He wanted their hearts.
And that same call is for us today.
How you treat others reflects how you treat God.
So the question is:
It’s time to move forward with reverence, trust, and obedience.
